BIOIDENTICAL HORMONE THERAPY

What are hormones?

Hormones are chemical messengers that regulate all bodily functions. Transported through the blood, they reach every tissue and every cell to initiate, regulate, or influence the function of an organ or body system.

Their presence in normal amounts and their ease and speed of functioning maintain our physical health, mental acuity, and emotional balance. Their deficiency affects us physically, mentally, and emotionally, also affecting our energy, sexuality, food processing, cardiovascular function, and more.

Age and hormones

With advancing age, some glands lose some of their vigor, such as those responsible for sexual and reproductive aspects.

After the age of 35, a slow decline in hormone levels begins in both men and women. This decline can have very vague symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia, irritability, or lack of energy, without being able to find a cause as the root of the problem.

In women, the suppression of menstruation marks the beginning of menopause, in most cases with abundant symptoms that produce a loss of physical, emotional, and mental well-being, which can lead to a miserable period in their lives for them and their families. Other women may go through this period with fewer symptoms but undoubtedly with a decrease in their quality of life.

In men, the onset of what is known as andropause, or the decrease in hormone production, is slower, sometimes imperceptible, and can take years to show clear symptoms. When they appear, they significantly diminish the quality of life just as they are entering a golden age that should be more enjoyable due to emotional maturity. social, economic, and family issues they may have.

Hormonal imbalances can occur in anyone, regardless of gender, social status, or cultural level. However, people who lead a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, restful sleep, proper stress management, and a positive attitude toward life can delay hormonal imbalances or better manage their symptoms.

Hormonal balance: a vital but fragile system.

The endocrine system, responsible for producing hormones through glands and other organs, is fragile. Some chemicals, smoking, lack of sleep, stress, and emotional problems can alter or cause fluctuations in hormone levels.

Options to restore your hormonal balance.

Stolically resisting the symptoms of menopause-andropause or any other hormonal imbalance is not a good strategy.

If you leave this without replacement and balance, it will lead to a more serious illness or leave you vulnerable to problems in the future.

In the case of menopause and andropause, you have two medical options for replacing deficient sex hormones. The first is conventional hormone replacement (HRT). These are hormones produced synthetically in laboratories or from animal sources. They do not have the same molecular structure as human hormones and are more difficult to metabolize. Although they are commonly and widely used, they do not provide entirely satisfactory results. While they control symptoms in the short term, they can have adverse effects in the long term.

The second option is bioidentical hormone replacement (BHRT). This alternative has been used and tested for 40 years.

Bioidentical hormones are obtained from soy and wild sweet potato, and a pharmaceutical process produces a hormone identical to the one we produce in our glands.

Hormones are chemical messengers that regulate all bodily functions. They are transported through the blood and reach every tissue and every cell to initiate, regulate, or influence the function of an organ or body system.

Their presence in normal quantities and their ease and speed of functioning maintain our physical health, mental acuity, and emotional balance. Their deficiency affects us physically, mentally, and emotionally, also affecting our energy, sexuality, food processing, cardiovascular function, and more.

How do bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) work?

It is a medical treatment that restores hormonal balance according to each patient's needs. It is an individualized treatment, so an updated hormonal profile and a review of a series of contraindications are required to assess whether the person is a candidate for BHRT.

The patient's dose is calculated, and rice-sized pellets are applied under the skin.

This creates a reservoir of hormones that you will use according to individual needs.

The implant lasts for women between 4 and 6 months; for men, it lasts between 5 and 7 months.

Based on the comprehensive evaluation performed by Dr. Christian Madrid or his associate specialists, the type of hormone to be used will be decided: testosterone, estrogen, and/or progesterone.

The procedure will be explained in detail, and recommendations regarding lifestyle, exercise, nutrition, and supplements will be given.

Safety of (BHRT) Bio-identical Hormone Replacement.

There are currently many opinions and confusion surrounding hormone replacement, some of which are clearly driven by commercial interests. Some professionals continue to prescribe synthetic hormones en masse, disregarding the proven harmful effects.

Bioidentical hormones have been used in Europe for over 40 years, and over the past 12 years, thousands of doctors in the United States have been prescribing these treatments without reporting any significant side effects or adverse effects. The FDA has approved forms of bioidentical hormones, and they are being used safely in daily practice, providing continuous, long-term use. Bioidentical hormone replacement carries no greater risks than other types of hormone treatments.

Oprah Winfrey and Suzanne Somers are two of the leading public advocates of BHRT.
